Where are the USA jobs? High-Speed rail, which will be needed when gasoline and jet fuel is no longer available or too costly (we are close to this now) is one of the best ways to open up the job market. Millions of miles of track, tens of thousands of engines and cars, millions of tons of steel, plastic, copper, fabric, etc., to be turned into interiors, and thousands of new alternative electrical power plants would be needed. This will put several million to work and will open up new towns, new resorts, etc. Already, private industry is building motels, hotels, resorts, and companies along the proposed routes of the HS rail, business KNOWS that it is good for them and the country.... Industry is Involved There are those that claim that if High Speed Rail was profitable, then the Private Industry people would be backing it; thus making one believe that Private industry is not involved; this is far from the truth, as private industry is involved, and even splitting the bill with the USA taxpayers. Union Pacific, CSX, and other railroads are working on upgrades to the tracks in conjunction with Amtrak in many parts of the nation. There are companies involved in the design and construction of the system from coast to coast as we speak.
