High Speed Rail in the USA

Where else do we get the money?

Rider-ship on Amtrak has been going up and up for the past three decades and it will continue to do so, thus when the bottlenecks to speed are removed, the system will draw millions of commuters from new towns and cities that are hundreds of miles distant from the jobs in existing cities.

There are millions of Baby Boomers that are becoming Senior Citizens and who will have the time and money to travel the USA, they too will add to the overall revenue stream.

Europe, the Middle east, north Africa, and other lands that were once stable and good tourist spots are now in a flux and will be for a decade or two, these people want to vacation in a safe zone, and the USA has the safe zones and the world class vacation spots. This will increase rider-ship and bring outside money into the USA by the basketful.

Parcel post services like UPS, USPS, and FEDEX will be using the system for moving packages, they already have started to do this, but when train speed rival airline speeds and the cost is less, they will use the Amtrak systems.

If the system is done right, and Amtrak owns many of its Alternative Fuel Power sources, it can produce enough to extra fuel that it can sell this to the power grids and make a profit doing so. The high wire supports that are above the trains can easily support tens of thousands of miles of solar cells and each station can be wind powered using Wind Turbines as well as solar and bio-fuels.

Right of Way Costing

Someone asked me about the money as it contains to purchasing the Right of Way for the High-Speed rail systems throughout the USA, and I had to think about it for a millisecond.

Amtrak already owns its rails in many sections of the Northeastern USA, and it can join with the Commercial Carriers to add rails next to theirs as they already have much of the right of ways.

Additionally, in the mid to west routes the land is reasonable inexpensive, just ask the Oil Companies who are buying up properties for their pipelines.

Then we have millions of miles of old worn out highways, thousands of now closed rail lines that are spurs, and tens of thousands of miles of Interstate highways with both side and center areas that are for future expansion, but that can be used.

Additionally, the current rail lines and Highways, and waterways can be double decked and the new upper decks can be used for 300+ MPH trains, or for MagLev 500 MPH trains..

If we do not invest in ourselves:

High-speed Rail production means that we will need ergonomic design engineers that can come up with new and more efficient rail cars that can meet the needs of various types of travelers from new borne to aging seniors.

High-speed Rail production means newly designed and engineered Locomotives that use a combination of diesel, natural gas, solar, regenerative braking, and electric energy as the trains travel from region to region and the fuel supply and cost varies.

High-speed Rail production means newly designed and engineered signaling and control systems that can sense track and power supply conditions and take immediate action if necessary. Example, in the event of a flooded track or an earthquake, or a vehicle or person on the tracks, etc. Japan already is ahead of us on the earthquake sensing controller designs.

What does it mean if we do NOT create High-speed rail?

USA JOBS... That is right, we are allowing tens of thousands of USA jobs to NOT be created by NOT supporting HSR and the billions of dollars of potential exports to places like Russia, the Americas', Australia, Africa, Mexico, and Canada.
