Headlights The BorderTransportationSystem will be open to all sorts of vehicles and can be used 24/7/365, thus there will be travelers at dusk, night, and dawn.  The system is designed to be autonomous with no on-coming traffic, and thus using the sensors it will not be required to use headlights.  Headlights take energy and the non-use of headlights will save millions of watts of energy each year.  It may though be advisable to have some LED (Light Emitting Diodes) on each of the corners of each vehicle, only to warn trespassers of on-coming vehicles.  The BorderTransportationSystem is designed to prevent trespassing, but human nature being what it is, someone, sometime, will make a failed attempt to cross the lanes of traffic.
