   FAQ / WHY?

Support for Wind Turbines

The BorderTransportationSystem will depend on electricity from several sources, including wind.  There will be in the central to eastern Texas segments a series of Wind Turbine that are either mounted on the High-Speed Rail towers, or along the entire route.  These will provide electric for the trains, the stations, the signals, etc.

The western section of the BorderTransportationSystem does not have sufficient wind to allow for Wind Turbines, but does have sufficient sunlight to allow for Solar Cells.  The mid to eastern Texas segment does not have sufficient sunlight, but does have sufficient wind.

It is envisioned that each system will be connected to a Power Grid, and thus be able to sell excess energy to the grid and then buy that energy back at the same price when needed, i.e., lack of sun or wind.  Texas may be a problem area as it is NOT currently connected to the National Power Grid.

Many of the rest areas, rail stations, border patrol stations, etc., may be able to use the Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems of which many are 'off-the-shelf' and reasonably cost effective as well as being somewhat standardized.
