President Obama's Railroad Proposals President Obama and his teams have since 2008 attempted to get decent high-speed passenger rail service into the United States.  Many projects were suggested and some were even financed, only to have the GOP Congress or GOP State Governors zilch the projects i.e., Florida, Ohio, and Wisconsin.  Lots of progress was made, but the main object of the High-Speed Rail system was not.  At present California, Texas, and Arizona do have projects on the drawing board, but not much has been built due to Congress NOT authorizing the release of the budgeted monies.
