   FAQ / WHY?

Salt Water Corrosion

Bringing sea water from the Pacific or the Gulf of Mexico means that it will have to be piped to the various locations where it will be distributed and used.  To do this, it will take a inlet area that is free of obstructions and can be semi-blocked to prevent fish and debris from being drawn into the system.  There will have to be powerful pumps and metering devices, and these must be located at the source and along the pipeline to clear mountains and elevation changes from Sea Level to the higher desert levels.

Salt water is corrosive and therefore, every place it touches has to be made of materials that will not be harmed by the salt water.  The pipe interiors, the valves used, the pumps, and the desalinization plants must all be corrosion resistant.
