Standard Track Gauges Throughout the world there are many 'Standard' track gauges or widths, and the U.S.A. at one time had more than one gauge due to each state having their specifications.  A rider had to exit a train at the state line and either take another train or wait until the 'trucks' on there train were removed and replaced with the next state's size trucks.
