   FAQ / WHY?

No Sun for Solar

The BorderTransportationSystem is in the Sunbelt, and most days of the year there is ample sunlight to generate millions of megawatts of solar energy.  There are within Texas and other sunbelt states several solar energy plants in operation.  The energy from these plants is being used to power homes, farms, and businesses, with the result that we have cut nationally some 20% of our dirty coal and oil usage, resulting in cleaner air and water, and lower energy cost.

The BorderTransportationSystem will use a combination of solar, wind power, and network grid power for its operation, thus being considered Green by the environmental communities.   During the daylight hours it is expected that the system will have an excess of power that can be 'banked' in the existing Grid, and at night the system will draw from that 'bank', for a zero energy cost, excluding cost to build and maintain.  In bad weather or overcast weather, i.e., during Monsoon season in the west and Hurricane season in the east, the generated electric will be moved to the locations where it is needed.
