   FAQ / WHY?

Tornado Damage

The BorderTransportationSystem is NOT in a major tornado area, but can be subjected to tornados and 'Dust Devils'.  These spinning tops can flip vehicles, drive debris through windows and doors, and tear up signs and signal systems.  The system must plan for winds up to 200 MPH and coming from multiple directions within seconds.

There will be storage yards on the eastern end of the BorderTransportationSystem, but when a major storm is coming, the suggestion is to move all moving stock westward to safety.  It will be recommended that the Brownsville station have a 'Safe Room' for its employees, Border Patrol agents, and passenger clients.

The stations and border patrol stations that are part of the BorderTransportationSystem should be built to 200 MPH codes, and have storm shields that can be lowered over the windows and doors.
