Warehousing Currently a warehouse has to be located reasonably close to the retail market for which it serves; this is due to the cost of transportation and the time it takes to get from point 'a' to point 'b'.   Let's say you are an importer of a manufacturer in Los Angles or San Diego and you need to warehouse product until it is assigned to a sales district in Florida, where do you build the warehouse, in L.A., San Diego, or Florida or somewhere else.  The cost of land and the building of a warehouse in Florida or California can be immense, whereas the cost to build it in some small town along the U.S.A. / Mexican border may be much less expensive.  With the BorderTransportationSystem the cost of moving goods at high-speed is low, and since each rail car is computer controlled and self-powered, it can be parked in a 'warehouse zone' area either uncovered or in a covered building, and then moved to the needed area in a day or two.
