Entry and Exits
Currently our Mexican border has a strange system of hodgepodge security checks, it works but is not standardized.
Americans entering Mexico in our border towns can do so without showing any identification, but have to go through what is often long lines to reenter the U.S.A.. Americans will need a driver's license, or a Birth Certificate, or a Passport, or a Passport Book, or a military ID, or other identification to get back into the U.S.A.. Other forms of ID that may be used are Military ID with Orders, and frequent traveler cards (such as SENTRI, FAST or NEXUS cards).
Mexicans, including children, who want to come to the U.S.A. to work, shop, or visit need a I-94 permit, or are required to present a passport with visa, or a Border Crossing Card (BCC). Mexican citizens/residents may present a BCC as a stand-alone document for entry from Mexico only (by land or by pleasure vessel or ferry).
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection {Border Patrol} is the U.S.A. governing authority for Mexican and Canadian Border Crossings.
